The shape follows what is open. One window fills the screen, three sit side by side, a fourth opens a second row. There is nothing to configure because the only honest answer depends on what is actually there.

Why it lasts
Built to keep working
Window managers break when macOS changes, because most of them reach for things Apple never promised. Deckz does not.
No private API
Nothing here reaches for SkyLight or asks you to disable SIP. That is why it keeps working when macOS updates.
Nothing polls
Deckz listens for the events it needs and sleeps otherwise. At rest it costs you a rounding error.
Nothing is lost
Hidden windows are recorded before they move, and anything stranded off-screen comes back on its own.
